Hi Holly,
Former Bookkeeper here. I'm not familiar yet with the free QB version; but after using QB Accountant version for 10 years - I'm not sure how I can live without Balance Sheet items. I looked into the free online program mentioned in the Etsy Success advert - but it's AWFUL - only P & L. Will I be dealing with the same shortfall with free QB Version??
Hi Tara,
Thanks for checking out my tutorial!
You ask a great question. The 'other' program you mention is great for income and expense tracking, but like you mention, does not show the WHOLE picture. QuickBooks does a great job of cover all the bases.
The QB free version has a P&L, Balance sheet and bank reconciliation. Not much else as far as reports go, but the basics.
Hope that helps! :)
Holly
Thanks for sharing this info. Accounting always scares me and I love that you included pictures to make it easier to understand.
2009 was my first year on etsy, and so far I've been clueless about keeping track of sales, expenses, etc. Everything is just in files and I guess I will figure that out later.
But I want to be organized for 2010 so I downloaded your free trial and the QB simple start. Wow, thanks so much for your tute. I would not have figured it out without it. I'd much rather be crafting than dealing with the numbers, so thanks for helping me out. Now if I can just make myself keep up with it.
What about my inventory and such? I've looked at your products, but not sure what else I need? I know I'm helpless when it comes to the business side. What do you recommend?
Hugs,
Gina
